Senior Research Fellow on Crop Science and Plant Biology

Requirements for the candidate

A Senior Research Fellow must have a Ph.D degree or equivalent degree in Biology or Chemistry on specialties related to Plant Science or Plant Biology (Plant Physiology) and he/she must have published research on related topics. The candidate, in addition to the requirements set out in the job description for teaching staff and research staff in the EMÜ, (4.7), is expected to have research experience in field of plant biology using, among others, a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer. The candidate must have published scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals. The experience of supervising doctoral students is recommended.

Tasks

The main task of the senior research fellow is to conduct research in the field of crop science and plant biology, including plant physiology and ecophysiology.

Tasks include:

• Planning and conducting experiments including identification of volatile compounds using a gas chromatograph mass-spectrometer and data analysis;
• Applying for project calls, leading projects; scientific collaboration on the field of research
• Supervising BSc, MSc and PhD students;
• Regular publishing in international peer-reviewed scientific journals or publishing equivalent scientific publications;
• Dissemination of information on his/her field of research in the Estonian society by the media and by public appearances.

Work Performance Indicators
Work is effectiveness is evaluated based on the tasks completed.
