Docent (Associate professor) on crop science (agricultural genetics)

Requirements for the candidate

The candidate for the position of researcher must have a doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent academic degree in crop production or related field and she/he has to have published research on related topics. The candidate, in addition to the requirements set out in the job description for teaching staff and research staff in the EMÜ, (4.2), must have experience in research and publishing in agricultural genetics and crop production. The candidate is expected to teach and conduct research.

Tasks

The main task of an associate professor is to conduct teaching and research in crop science and agricultural genetics, including:

• Teaching in courses Genetics, Crop production, Plant Breeding and Seed production, The state regulation of the agricultural sector;
• Supervising BSc, MSc and PhD students;
• Applying for project calls, leading projects, planning and conducting experiments, data analysis,
• Regular publishing of results in international peer-reviewed scientific journals in collaboration with colleagues;
• Participating as a lecturer in trainings coordinated by the department/institute/university;
• Dissemination of information on the field of study in the Estonian society by the media and by public appearances.

Work performance indicators

Work effectiveness is evaluated based on the tasks completed.

Rights
