Subject area

The Associate Senior Lecturer will perform research within the subject area of plant hormone physiology with a focus on forest trees in a broad sense. The research area can span such approaches as analytical chemistry, developmental biology, and cell and molecular biology with forest biotechnology applications. An absolutely essential task for the appointed researcher is to continue the development and application of analytical methods for plant hormones and other plant metabolites. The Associate Senior Lecturer will develop his/her own research area within the subject areas at the department. The recruited researcher will also act as a supervisor of PhD students, and will teach at both the basic and advanced level. He/she shall furthermore undertake education in pedagogics, and is expected to meet the requirements for promotion to Senior Lecturer during this 4-year tenure track position. In addition to research and teaching, the employed Associate Senior Lecturer is also required to applying for external funding, for example from the Swedish research councils, EU and other research funds.


Candidates eligible for employment as Associate Senior Lecturer must hold a PhD in plant biology, plant cell and molecular biology, analytical chemistry or biochemistry or have equivalent academic qualifications. Priority should be given to candidates who have received their PhD or equivalent qualifications no longer than seven years before the application deadline. For an appointment as Associate Senior Lecturer, the candidate must be scientifically proficient in the subject area of the position. Experience of research environments outside of SLU, equivalent to a post-doctoral period, or a PhD degree from another university is expected. Good ability to communicate in written and spoken English is required.
